Medical Marijuana Store Plans Stall

BILLINGS - The Billings heights will not be seeing a medical marijuana store open up any time soon.

Local caregiver Mark Higgins announced in May he was working to open a store for his business. Higgins has had his medical marijuana card for less than a year, but he is also a provider for other users.

In the past few months his clientele has grown to 33. But due to the cost of insurance, Higgins says he's going to put off the plans for the store.

"I can continue to operate my business at a slower pace and build it from the ground floor. I've got a lot of patients right now and the main thing for those patients is making sure they have their medicine," said Higgins.

Higgins says his business is registered with the state and he'll continue to provide for his patients, but instead he'll operate as a delivery service.

A meth store? Really? Comparing marijuana used as medicine to meth is a product of your small minded DARE mentality. Fortunately for the rest of us, this kind of thinking will soon be a thing of the past. And 'this kind of California thing'? Providing a service to patients in need of their medication is a 'California thing?' I'm sorry he cannot open at this time, and I completely support Mr. Higgins in this venture. Good luck!

Actually, meth is a medicine and marijuana is not, according to the federal gov. Weird huh? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dextromethamphetamine_%28medical%29

It is quite unfortunate that Mr. Higgins isn't able to open up his store front at this time. From one caregiver to another, my full support goes to Mr. Higgins in the hope that one day Billings can become a fully understanding medical marijuana community.
