MONTANA - The Fourth of July weekend is almost upon us and what better way to celebrate than fireworks?
Here's a list of what's going on around town:
Here in Billings the 'Celebrate Freedom' event, sponsored by Harvest Church, is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on July 4th. It's at Castle Rock Park in the Heights. Activities including inflatables, inexpensive food, live music and a free fireworks show.
Laurel claims to have the best and biggest fireworks display in Montana this year. They're kicking off the day at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at Fireman's Park and a run at Thompson Park. The grand parade is at 11 a.m. and will start on Main Street. After many other activities they will have the fireworks show after dusk to celebrate Laurel Volunteer Firemen for 100 years of service.
And last but not least, Red Lodge. The 80th annual parade including the famous Clydesdales will start at noon on both the third and the fourth and will travel down Broadway. The fireworks display is Saturday night at 10:15 p.m. and can be seen from anywhere in town. And don't forget about the 'Home of Champions' rodeo going on at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 3 p.m. on the 4th.
And the following cities may want to keep their eye on the sky during the day as well. The Montana Air National Guard has scheduled numerous flyovers. The flyovers will be performed by the F-15c fighter aircraft.
