Montana Prescription Medication Project

BILLINGS - The Montana Attorney General creates a task force to fight the growing problem with prescription drug abuse.

The group, made up of law enforcement, medical, and judicial officials, is using the Montana Meth Project Model to start its own campaign. While the program is in its infancy, officials hope to piggy back off the success of the Meth Project ads so they can make an immediate impact in communities across the state.

"Virtually every household that has prescription drugs has the potential to have a problem, whether they're unattended, not accounted for, or not properly disposed of," said Billings Police Chief Rich St. John.

Colorado and Utah have started similar projects, but state officials believe Montana is on the cutting edge of stopping prescription medication abuse.
