HELENA - A recent National Survey shows fewer Montana teens using methamphetamine.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention surveyed students in grades 8, 10 and 12 and found their overall usage had decreased from years before. The 2009 results show just over 3% of students report using meth at least once, compared to 4.6% in 2007 and 8.3% in 2005. The Montana Meth Project Director says even with the progress, it's still important to continue their efforts.

"You've got to remember the kids keep coming in to this age group into high school, and it's interesting the teens we talk to now tell us their fear is that there won't be a continuation of the ads and resistance for their brothers and sisters that are coming into high school," says Bill Slaughter, Executive Director of the Montana Meth Project.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General's Office released statistics showing a 62% drop in meth related crime from 2005.
