BILLINGS - A Billings veteran's story is a New York Times best seller.

The book, Tears in the Darkness, recounts the Bataan Death March during WWII and Billings man Ben Steele's story of survival through it.

Steele's family tells KULR-8 they were notified June 24, 15 days after the book hit shelves that it made the New York Times best-seller list.

Tears in the Darkness will be number 15 on the list that comes out Sunday. The Times told the family that 40,000 copies of the book have been sold. In a previous interview, 91-year-old Steele told us he was honored to be a part of the book.
