BILLINGS - Sutton's Sportswear will close its doors Thursday after more than 2 decades of doing business in Billings.

President Mark Heydon first announced the company's grim future a couple weeks ago. Heydon said plans to keep the business going through potential buyers have fallen through. Therefore, he said Sutton's will cease operation July 2nd.

He said they began the scaling back process Tuesday and layoffs will be complete by Thursday. Sutton's employs about 90 people.

The store is located at 1400 South 24th Street West and makes shirts, hats and other apparel for resorts, corporations and sports teams. It was started in 1981 by Billings entrepreneurs Harold and Susie Sutton, they sold it in January of 2007.
