BILLINGS - A conservative group called "Americans for Prosperity" brought its Hot Air Tour to Billings Monday night, decrying what it calls "climate alarmism."

Group members rallied against proposed greenhouse gas regulations which they call reactionary legislation, and say will harm the economy.

"Americans for Prosperity" also shows concern for cap and trade legislation. Group members say they flat out don't agree with the science behind these proposed regulations and fear the consequences.

"After a record cold winter in Montana and a record cold spring in Montana, the last thing people need is to be taxed more on energy," said protester Janice Lynn.

"This is the type of scare mongering the fossil fuel industry in particular is trying to pass around to get people afraid to do anything new with our energy supply," said Steve Running with the University of Montana's College of Forestry and Conservation in response to the tour.

"Americans for Prosperity" was also responsible for organizing nation-wide protests on tax day, known as tea parties.
