BILLINGS - Seventy-five graduates walked across the Lincoln Center stage Wednesday night and received their GED's. For one woman, it was an accomplishment she's been waiting on for more than 30 years.

"I'm excited!" exclaimed Bobbi French while preparing to walk across the stage and receive her GED. French may not live her life in the same order as most people. After 4 children, 6 grandkids and running her own business, she's finally graduating with her GED. "It was still in the back of my mind. I didn't feel complete before. I feel completed now finally."

"This graduation is so inspiring. People who later in life have the time and they go back and set such a good example for their children and grandchildren no matter what their age," said Kathy Kelker, who was the night's key-note speaker.

Many of the grads, including French, had to go back to school and take adult education classes in order to pass the GED. But French says it was worth it. And now she's moving forward with her life and getting her cosmetology license.

"I'll complete that in September and I plan to go into barbering in Absarokee. I have four children, they're all very happy for me. Yay for me!" A cause for celebration, decades in making.

Kelker is the Executive Director of Head Start and former school board chair. She's retiring this year from the School District 2 board after about 20 years.
