BILLINGS - Billings veterans visited Senator Tester's office in Billings Thursday to urge his support for upcoming labor legislation.

Veterans rallied in favor of the Employee Free Choice Act. The legislation is yet to reach the Senate Labor Committee. Supporters say it aims to protect employees from penalties if they join or organize a union at their workplace.

They say the act is necessary especially for veterans, since they can be denied rights or benefits when returning from overseas.

"When a worker decides to bargain collectively with his co-workers to makes it a better job the employers typically discriminate against these folks," says supporter Bob Guilfoyle.

Senator Tester released a statement saying he appreciates hearing from the public and will weigh the decision once the Employee Choice Act is ready for Senate vote.
