Spring into Gardening

BILLINGS - Spring is fast approaching and along with warmer weather comes more color and life in your garden.

Greenhouse and nursery stores are preparing their inventory for gardening season. Some are getting their first shipments of live plants this week. Experts say now is a good time to start growing almost any plant. Some popular choices are tomatoes, different kinds of herbs, even berries or grapes. They say you can keep these plants indoors or in a covered patio.

"It's the time of the season where you can start your plants and put them in a pot or on the patio in a container, then move them outside when the weather breaks," says Rick Boyce with Lowes.

Experts say it's best to move plants into the ground once the weather averages about 50 degrees. They suggest leaving the pots outside during the day, and then bringing them in overnight night until temperatures rise.
