Green Saturday

BILLINGS - Downtown Billings was seeing green Saturday at the Annual St. Patrick's Day parade.

There was music, clowns, and lots of balloons, but as far as the kids were concerned, the best part of the parade was the sweets. "We got lots of candy, we are stocked up for next Halloween," says Megan Tenney.

The Annual St. Patrick's Day parade drew quite a crowd. "It was pretty awesome!" said one spectator. The color of the day was displayed for viewers in many ways. Green hats and clothes, green hair and green cars. One Billings boy collected his candy in green a bag. But beyond the sights and sounds, some say St. Patrick's Day is more about the people.

"I think the parade is really important because it's something you can do with you family," says Tenney. Organizers say they are happy to see the annual parade gaining back it's former popularity, after almost being cancelled from the holiday's tradition a few years ago. Parent's say the holiday wouldn't be the same without it.

"It's invaluable and the memories are amazing," says Tenney. Judging by the thousands who showed up to watch, the community seems to agree. Over $3,000 dollars was raised from the parade and the street fair, benefiting The Big Sky Senior Center.
