Counterfeit Money Hits Billings

BILLINGS - Secret Service officials report a high number of counterfeit $100 bills being used at businesses in the Billings area.

Officials say the dollar bills are of high quality and do not respond to the use of the counterfeit detection markers. Authorities say the best way to find a fake is to double-check the numbers on the bills.

The fake notes have a 1999 marking on them, and to the lower right of the portrait on the bill, there is the marking G-24. On the back of the bill, in the lower right corner there is the number 29. If you find a counterfeit bill, you are asked to contact local law enforcement.
