BILLINGS - U.S. Senator Jon Tester has been appointed to the influential Senate Appropriations Committee.

Committee members ultimately guide where the government spends taxpayer money. Tester says the position will help him secure projects for Montana.

"That allows Montana to have a seat at the Senate Appropriations Committee and really allows us to really take Montana values to the appropriations process, and allow for some accountability." Said Tester.

Tester was first promised the seat on the appropriations committee in 2006 after he beat long-time incumbent republican Senator Conrad Burns.
