BILLINGS - It's now been one week since almost 200 dogs were seized from a Ballantine breeder. Most of the animals are being held at MetraPark, but some of the sickest animals are at the Big Sky Pet Center.

Dr. Rob Bruner with Big Sky Pet Center was on the scene when hundreds of animals were seized last week. "In my opinion this is a case of neglect," he said. "Lack of proper water, food and housing environment." He said some of the animals were dead, while others exhibited serious health problems. "Every dog has bite wounds, or scars from bite wounds," he said. "So we know fighting was a part of their life."

Some of youngest dogs had umbilical wounds, which Bruner said indicates they were not properly cared for. One of the dogs had wounds that required Bruner to amputate her leg. One week later she and almost all of the dogs are showing signs of improvement.

"She has recovered and is doing extremely well," he said. "Proper food. Proper water and excellent shelter is going a long way for the health of these animals."

While most of the dogs are on the road to recovery, more animals are becoming sick every day. The clinic is also busy watching seven other females who are about to give birth. Yellowstone County prosecutors are expected to announce this week whether or not they will press charges against Linda Kapsa the owner of the dogs.

I think she needs to be put in a cage and treated like she has treated these dogs! I wish I could take a couple of these dogs home with me but I already have 3 spoiled dogs and don't have room for any more.
