Bar Goes Smoke Free Early

BILLINGS - Wednesday will be the last night for smokers to light up at a popular Billings bar.

Starting Thursday, Hooligans Sports Bar in downtown Billings will no longer allowing smoking. A new state law requires businesses to ban smoking by October 2009. Hooligan's management say although they had months to make the change, the start of a new year seemed like the right time to switch.

"My employees if they're working on an 8 hour shift and they don't smoke, it's not really fair for them to be in the second hand smoke as well as I've seen the damage of what smoke does to my televisions. I've replaced 10 TV's this year and that's due to second hand smoke going to the filters," said Hooligan's G.M. Sean Graves.

I think Steve is wrong too. I don't like to go somewhere where there is smoking and besides it being BAD for ones health, it makes your clothes smell like a dirty ashtray. And if smokers want to endanger their health, they can do it alone and no make others suffer due to their addiction!

I think your wrong Steve, our lunch business has already increased when we started "smoke free" lunches three months ago. And really, how many places can you smoke inside anymore?? Its not like people stop living their lives in public because they can't smoke there!! All of my "smoking" customers seem to be just fine with walking 10 steps to the door and getting their fix. Also, i did think about it when I took the job, and now I don't have to worry about it anymore!!!

I think these bars that are going smoke free will suffer due to customers not going to that place. I understand that non-smokers don't want too be with second hand smoke. They should have thought about that when they took the job.
