Yellowstone Earthquakes

CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Scientists are closely monitoring more than 250 small earthquakes that have occurred in Yellowstone National Park since Friday.

Swarms of small earthquakes happen frequently in Yellowstone. But Robert Smith, a professor of geophysics at the University of Utah, says it's very unusual for so many earthquakes to happen over several days.

The largest tremor happened Saturday and measured magnitude 3.8. Tremors continued Sunday and Monday, including a magnitude 3.3 quake shortly after noon on Monday.

Smith says it's hard to say what might be causing the tremors. He points out that Yellowstone is the caldera of an active volcano that last erupted 70,000 years ago. He says Yellowstone is still very geologically active.

We have no control over it. Just be sure to make the most of every day and trust in the Lord our God.

A super-volcano eruption would likely be a world-wide extinction level event... without any 'safe zones'. I suppose you could choose to go either in the first flash or in the lingering darkness from the cold and starvation? ...Silly humans.

places on the net are talking about people wanting to go to safer areas in the U.S. , also how the wildlife in yellowstone are not acting their norm.. i can understand people wanting to go to safer ground, but seriously is there a safe zone if she blows?? and i would like to know why it is that they keep sayin the same thing over and over, its unsual but not really cause there are hundreds of earthquakes a year there, well they have had over 400 since the 26th of dec i think it needs researched

yellowstone is very active yes, and its very scary to find out or soon find out that yellowstone might erupt. Evacuation could be nessecary? If we are within 600 miles of yellowstone we could possilbly die.
