BILLINGS - Get ready for long lines at the post office if you're planning on shipping anything out this week.

Postal officials say with the holiday fast-approaching, this week tends to be the busiest. Monday alone, they expect nearly 70,000 packages and 320,000 letters to be shipped out of Billings post offices. Postal officials say if you want to guarantee delivery by Christmas, send your gift or card as early as possible.

"We're always dealing with weather in Montana aren't we, look what we just dealt with last weekend so when we're looking at adverse weather conditions that absolutely could delay the mail so the earlier you send it out the better," said U.S.P.S.'s Lisa Blomquist.

Billings Main and Centennial Post offices are open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Pioneer Station Post Office is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
