BILLINGS - A man who pleaded guilty to robbing several Billings banks last year is sentenced Monday in district court.

John Edward Smith will serve two terms of 20 years to Montana State Prison with two years suspended and both terms running concurrent. He must also pay more than $9,000 dollars in restitution.

Last October and November Smith entered several Billings banks including the Little Horn State Bank on Central Avenue and Stockman Bank in the Heights slipped the teller a note demanding money and fled.

During sentencing Judge Gregory Todd told Smith he'd earned everyday he has in this sentence.
