Cody Concerts

CODY, WYOMING - Northwest Wyoming will soon be drawing big names from Nashville, Tennessee, for a new concert series. The "Cody Wild West Shows" may help bring people to the tourist town during it's off season.

Less than a year after Cody’s downtown theater, the Cody, rolled projectors for the last time, the theater may bring off season crowds back for another venue: country music, straight from Nashville.

Dan Miller’s Cowboy Music Revue has been packing in the crowds all summer long. Miller explained his Nashville connections, “In about 85, started hosting shows for TNN and Nashville Network and I hosted a lot of shows for TNN.” Then he came out West, eventually landing in Cody.

“I used to do music and I played Nevada and Las Vegas and Reno for a long time, but I really thought Cody had the right setting to come in here and bring an entertainment product in here.”

Since his music review found the Theatre, he says things went well. "Like real estate, location, location, location. We’re right across the street from the Irma Hotel, the Cody theatre, it’s a beautiful venue. It’s been a good year for us.”

Miller thought a little more music might help him and the city in the off-season. He said, “I thought if I could bring in some of my old Nashville buddies and do some concerts here, maybe one a month, and I think it will be outstanding.”

When asked who he might bring, he started rolling off the names, “In January I’m going to be bringing in Lacy J. Dalton. I’ve talked to everybody from T.J. Shepherd to Crystal Gayle to the Oak Ridge Boys.” And Miller hopes to bring audiences in from Montana as well as Wyoming.

He’s setting up hotel and restaurant packages, and got a $25,000 Attaboy grant from the Park County Travel council. Miller's Wild West Weekend shows will start January through April, then September through December. There will be eight concerts in all.
