For some it's a sport, for others a bit of an obsession. Christina Miller says, "Black Friday is my favorite day of the whole year." While Mary Gradert says, "I came because my granddaughter wanted to come, my daughter wanted to come."

Whatever their reason, shoppers came out by the thousands to join this American tradition. Miller said, "I am up early every Black Friday to go shopping just to get the sales, just to race for the best prices on everything." To get the best prices, people lined up as early as 3 am. Manager of Rimrock Mall Jeremy Vannatta said, "Once you get past the grogginess of waking up early in the morning, people are generally pretty cheery, they want to get some good deals."

"I still have another two pages of list, I'm still going to go shopping for a lot of more people" said Miller. Karrie Cleveland was also there for the shopping. "There's just great sales Herbergers in our opinion had some of the best sales in stuff we were looking for, plus it's inside and warm."

Herbergers was one of the first stores to open Friday morning and although people were out bright and early, the economy was affecting the items they purchased.

"This year, anyway for me, the spending is down, just because there's a lot of uncertainty and you're just picking up the necessity kind of things." Zack Simenson agrees, "Even though I'm pretty stable employed, I never know what's gonna happen tomorrow."

Rimrock Mall conducted it's annual survey on Black Friday shopping, and this year many shoppers said they're cutting back on their credit card usage.
