Ready to Open

RED LODGE - It's get up and go time for Red Lodge Mountain employees as they prepare to open the mountain in less than two weeks.

Groomers are running non-stop on the mountain as snow machines have made several feet of snow to go with the four feet that fell in October. In the last few weeks crews have installed a new magic carpet tow to replace the old towrope, re-painted all the buildings, and updated the lifts.

The $2.5 million dollar renovation has mountain officials excited about the new season.

"A lot of the money that we've put into the resort isn't visible to the naked eye, it's inside these buildings. I think that people can expect a consistent product and they're going to spend a lot more time on the snow and not in the chair," said Red Lodge Mountain's Robert Drake.

Red Lodge Mountain is scheduled to open the day after Thanksgiving.
