BILLINGS - As the President addressed union members in Milwaukee, Greater Yellowstone area union members spent a day in the park.

Members of 22 unions made their way to Rose Park in Billings this Labor Day for food and family-fun.

Greater Yellowstone Labor Council President Darrell Johnson said the area's unions cover a wide range of professions. "From nurses to carpenters to electricians to boilermakers to steelworkers, to bakers, you name it," he said.

"Glad the weather's holding out, really nice, food's real good," said miner and union member Les Smothers. "Kids are lovin the inflatables, they can't wait to get back over there."

Party-goers came from as far away as Colstrip, Miles City, and Hysham. In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the atmosphere was a bit more presidential, as President Obama anounced a new bill to rebuild the economy by fixing roads, rails, and runways.

"I'm going to keep fighting, every single day, every single hour to turn this economy around, to put people back to work and renew the American Dream," said the President.

"The movement's on, people are tired of being put down and out," said Johnson. He said people "want something more for their families."

The unemployment rate here at home is far lower than elsewhere in the state and country. Billings has seen layoffs though, which didn't go unnoticed at Monday's picnic.

"It's horrible," said Smothers, "thankfully I've still got my job."

Labor council members said they expected more than 2,000 people to attend Monday.

Birds of a feather flock together, mostly dodos. Oh thats right they are extinct with unions soon to follow. democraps always flock to there events when it's the Republicans(businessmen)that provide the jobs. All unions do is protect the lazy.
