New Lockwood Fire Station

By Nick Lough

LOCKWOOD - With a budget in the black for the first time in years the Lockwood Fire Department is looking to expand.

Friday, a fire crew worked on installing a new sign up to let the community know about its new fire station. Lockwood officials already own the land off Johnson Lane where the station is proposed to be located.

The new station is still a long way from being built, but fire officials say it's a great step for the department. "We're bursting out of the seams. we don't have enough space in our station to park all of our apparatus, never mind the fact that our station is 5 or 6 additions and its quite old and it doesn't function well as a fire station," said Lockwood Fire's Rob Walker.

Fire officials say a great thing about the new station will be its centralized location in the Lockwood area.
