Bright Future

By Nick Lough

LOCKWOOD - The Lockwood Fire Department anticipates a bright future after passing a budget Wednesday night that puts the department in the black for the first time in more than two years.

Lockwood Fire Department has also purchased a second ambulance. There is also talk about a new fire station going up in the near future. Lockwood Fire Chief Bill Rash says it's satisfying when a department has this kind of success.

"Its an excellent feeling, we had some significant challenges and we're now at the maximum reserves and have a very healthy budget going into the next fiscal year," said Rash.

Lockwood Fire has added two new fire vehicles to its fleet since the beginning of the year. Chief Rash says they're looking at more additions if they fit into the budget.
