ID Fraud

By Nick Lough

BILLINGS - A suspect in a widespread identity fraud case is arrested at a Billings Albertsons store Wednesday night. Authorities believe they may not yet know the full extent of the case.

Lawrence Keffeler signed up for online dating services, met women, and stole their personal information. Keffeler is wanted in Montana and Washington on several charges including writing a bad check and theft.

Officials say Keffeler was alone in a stolen ford mustang Wednesday night when he was taken into custody. Montana's U.S. Marshal suspects that all of the suspect's victims haven't come forward yet.

"If they're out there and they know this person they should be very cognizant of contact with him and then they may want to check their accounts, they may want to check with their banker, they may want to check their credit cards," said U.S. Marshal Dwight MacKay.

If you have any information or know anyone who was in contact with Keffeler you are urged to contact law enforcement at (406) 896-6025.
