BILLINGS - It has been months since a rash of racist graffiti around Billings outraged many in our community. With no leads on the police investigation as to who's responsible, the community continues to rally around those affected.

A fourth "Diversity Eat-In" was held Wednesday night for another business that was targeted. The rash of graffiti reported consisted of racist slurs and insults, swastikas; even phrases telling those owning the business to get out. But since then Not in Our Town and the restaurant owners targeted have made it clear that they aren't going anywhere.

Four Seas was one of the businesses with graffiti painted on the walls outside, and that's where the Eat-In was held Wednesday night. Owner Victor Lieu says they haven't been bothered since the one occurrence of vandalism. For Lieu, business is good and things have returned to normal. Lieu's daughter Vicki Lieu works with her father, she said at the Eat-In that she feels sorry for those who painted the graffiti on their building.

In fact since the multiple cases of graffiti were reported in April and June, police say they haven't had any more major reports. But they also haven't gotten very far with the investigation.

Since the Eat-Ins began the city hasn't seen another rash of hate related graffiti and the group Not in Our Town says they think it is because their tactics are working. They say they hope the message the community gets is that Billings won't tolerate hate. The group may hold another Eat-In at the Golden Phoenix in Heights next.
