BILLINGS - For the first time in six months, essential air service returns to Montana.

Starting this week, Wyoming based Great Lakes Aviation offers service to three Montana cities: Lewistown, Sidney and Miles City. Great Lakes takes over EAS flights from Big Sky Airlines, which stopped flights in March.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has allowed the company to change its hub from Billings to Denver for those Montana flights. Officials say they will consider changing the hub back to Billings if they do not generate sufficient revenue.
