Renewable Energy Bus

By Stephanie Domurat

BILLINGS - Visiting more than forty towns in seven states may sound like a vacation, but try doing it in three months, while living out of an old school bus.

Four Billings residents are back from that trip, all in the name of alternative energy. The "Homegrown Prosperity Bus Tour" completed its journey Tuesday, after spreading awareness over their seven thousand mile drive. The bio-diesel fueled bus made eighty stops to promote renewable energy, energy efficiency, and stress the importance locally grown foods.

"We found we had a great reception everywhere. This bus is a magnet, not only were we educated but we learned a lot from different people along the way. And it was a great outreach and networking opportunity for people right there on the bus, so that was really nice to see," says Laura Beccera.

Northern Plains Resource Council, a grassroots organization that promotes protecting the environment, sponsored the bus tour.
