Fire Restrictions

BILLINGS - Despite a nice dose of rain over the past few days, fire danger concerns linger across Montana.

Fire officials say Stage One fire restrictions are still in effect for Big Horn, Carbon, Musselshell, Sweet Grass, Stillwater, Treasure and Yellowstone Counties. That means things like smoking and off road driving is prohibited in certain areas.

Lockwood Fire Chief Bill Rash says weather conditions can quickly change the fire outlook. "Heat comes through again for a few more days, 80-to-90 degree weather, that relative humidity goes down, moisture start to evaporate, and we could very easily along with wind be back in wildland fire conditions," said Rash.
