MT State Senator Switches Vote

By Madelyn Jarrett

BILLINGS - Hillary Clinton freed her delegates to vote for Barack Obama Wednesday hours before the roll call.

The roll call was still an emotional event for her supporters as many were not ready to give up on a Clinton nomination. Clinton met with her delegates earlier Wednesday, but didn't tell them how to vote when the roll call came around.

Montana state senator Kim Gillan of Billings, a Clinton delegate, told us she would cast her vote for Obama. "For me one of the most important messages she said is this election isn't about her candidacy, it's about the values and the initiative. I felt that signaled that she was going to release her delegates." says Gillan.

Not all of Clinton's supporters switched over however, Clinton was still placed in nomination. However before the roll call ended, Clinton stopped it and asked the delegates to appoint Obama as the nominee by acclamation.
