Bomb Scare

By Sarah Gravlee

BILLINGS - The Billings police bomb squad was dispatched to Lake Elmo Sunday where they dismantled an apparent bomb.

A police report said a man was wading in the lake when he found what looked like a homemade pipe bomb. He turned it over to the FWP and the bomb squad was called to the scene. They moved the pipe using a robotic arm and blasted an end cap off, rendering the area safe again.

The report stated the device was about a foot-long pipe with an unknown powder in it. Both ends were capped and a fuse was sticking out of it.

The Billings Police Department continues to investigate.
