Accused Murderer Evaluated

By Nick Lough

BILLINGS - A Red Lodge man accused of killing his mother and sister and taking his sister's child is still undergoing evaluations to see if he's fit to stand trial.

A judge has extended Charles White's stay for an additional 180 days at the state mental hospital in Warm Springs. White faces two counts of felony deliberate homicide and one count of felony aggravated kidnapping.

Police say on March 27, White fatally shot his mother Elizabeth Shirley and sister Madaleine White. Officials say it could take more than a year to determine if White is competent to stand trial.
