New Sign

BILLINGS - A new sign will allow walkers to see what lies below their feet as they hike Black Otter Trail atop the Rims.

Governor Brian Schweitzer unveiled the new geo-sign Wednesday as students from the friendship house watched on. The sign is one of 16 that will be installed along Montana's highways this summer. The colorful signs show the geology of the areas.

The Governor says he hopes Geo-signs excite kids about science and educate them on Mntana. "Young people get interested in science when it's fun. So when the families are driving and stop at these signs and learn about a mountain or a river, it makes science alive and fun," says Governor Schweitzer.

The geo-sign on the Rims tells the history of Billings, and what existed 80 million years ago. The signs are part of the Governor's Science and Math Initiative, meant to promote education and careers in math and science.
