Thank You

RED LODGE - The community in Red Lodge says thanks to the fire fighters and everyone working on the Cascade Fire, as they pass the blaze onto another team.

In a meeting Thursday evening officials downgraded the fire from a type 1 to a type 3, meaning more resources and crews were released. Residents thanked the original incident command team, who are heading home to wait for their next assignment.

Residents not only applauded the crews, they've papered town with signs saying, "we love our Fire fighters!" John Prinkki, a Carbon County commissioner, says the town really got behind each other and the crews during the fire. "This community is typical of any Montana community. They rally behind each other and come to each others support and do what needs to be done."

Fire fighters have the Cascade Fire 85% contained now, but they say the new incident command team has a lot of work ahead of them mopping up. To date the blaze has scorched more than 10,000 acres and more than $7 million dollars has been spent to fight it.
