Petroleum Industry Looks for Gold STAR

HELENA - Even petroleum companies are looking for ways to save energy and curb their carbon footprint. In fact, the Montana Petroleum Association has endorsed the natural gas STAR program and is now working to educate their members on ways they can increase their financial success while being environmentally friendly.

"Our industry, frankly, does an amazing job at safety and health and environmental consciousness," said Dave Galt with the Montana Petroleum Association. "And we really don't get the credit for it. We don't talk about it enough. Seems like we're always the target for one issues and we don't get the credit we deserve, I don't think, for what we do environmentally."

According to the MPA, it makes good business sense for petroleum producers to make their rigs more environmentally friendly. They say many of these adjustments also makes them more efficient.
