Marcie and her camel Margo are getting ready for opening day of the fair. For this year's Fair, she has brought 50 of her 1,000 exotic animals to show off. "We don't have chickens, but we do have a bird, we have an Emu, but he doesn't fly," says Marcie Campbell with Hedrick's Exotic Petting Zoo.

The traveling educational petting zoo is one attraction for kids of all ages, where they can learn and even pet animals that are usually only in conventional zoos. "They come in to our petting zoo and get to touch them and feed them by hand," says Campbell. For Marcie, the friendliness of exotic animals is no surprise, who names each one, she says based on their own unique personalities.

"This is Earnest the Emu and over there is Heidi." Fair officials say the petting zoo along with the 4H program are some of the fun ways the fair can educate kids. "4H and youth programs are a core value at the fair, because we're training Friday's agriculture leaders.” said Campbell.

Over the next week, Marci says fair-goers may even see some baby goats. A little peek into her life, of raising all types of animals and making them friends to kids all over the country.

"We raise all these animals and they truly are our family, and we travel around so that everyone can enjoy our animals as much as we do," says Campbell.
