McCain Campaign

By Jessica Bobula

BILLINGS - Republican presumptive presidential candidate John McCain's regional campaign manager was in Billings Monday meeting with volunteers. Ben Golnik says he's in the process of helping to organize a campaign in Montana. He discussed some reasons he thinks McCain can win the Treasure state.

"What he has is I think the key issues on guns. Sen. McCain has been a strong supporter of the second amendment. Sen. Obama has been on the record of wanting to outlaw handguns, wanting to outlaw certain kinds of semiautomatic guns and Montana has a rich history in hunting and outdoor activities so I think that's a very large one."

Golnik also mentioned taxes and McCain's plans for the economy. He says there will be at least 5 campaign offices across the state by August 1st, in Billings, Bozeman, and Kalispell and including ones he says exist in Helena and Missoula. He says although he can't make promises, there's a chance Montana could have a personal visit by McCain in the coming months.

He needs to step up his gain, from all the signs and posters and whatnot, it seems like Obama might get this state. :(

It sounds like McCain thinks all Montanans care about is their hunting rifle and handgun. I'm a lot more concerned about how many of my neighbors and friends will be going back for a 3rd or 4th tour in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is the only position John McCain hasn't changed in the last month or so. The GOP has used 2 words to get millions of free votes "Guns" and "Abortion" - and then they go to DC and do anything they want. Not this year. People need to learn what McCain is really about.

I see no signs other than the ones I bought and placed out here in Fort Benton and Great Falls and no movement for John! Why no office in Great Falls and we are not combatting Obama with signs, at least? Ken teranchken@yahoo.com
