BILLINGS - A public service commission request to look into money a member received from NorthWestern energy is sparking heated debate.

Three democrats on the public service commission have voted to ask the attorney general to look into money Republican Commissioner Brad Molnar took from NorthWestern energy as part of the Billings "brownout" energy conservation effort last winter.

The other republican on the panel, Doug Mood, walked out of the proceeding saying the effort was beneath the commission and made it look "petty and stupid."

The Associated Press says in a heated exchange before the vote, Molnar told Democrat Ken Toole to, quote, "shut up."
