WASHINGTON DC - Concerns over healthcare access for Native Americans leads to a call for a Federal investigation.

Wednesday, Montana Senator Max Baucus asked for a review of the Federal Indian Health Service. Baucus says recent discussion with Montana Tribal leaders suggest many reservations are not able to offer adequate healthcare services.

Baucus says, "I think all Americans, all Montanans deserve good quality healthcare. That clearly includes Native Americans, Indians in our state as well as other states. I suspect, unfortunately, that they're not getting that high quality care, that the dollars aren't getting to the services that they need."

Baucus points to recent shortfalls on the Fort Peck Reservation. He asks the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services to conduct a complete investigation.
