'Big Ride' Stops in Billings

By Stephanie Domurat

BILLINGS - The sun, wind, and mountains are the worst enemies to thirty seven cyclists that are riding across the country. The team made their stop in Billings Saturday, as part of the "Big Ride Across America." The 12th annual event raises money for the American Lung Association, with riders of all ages. The ride began in June in seattle and will stop in eighteen states before ending in Washington, D.C. Cyclists travel for 48 days covering about one hundred miles a day. "If you look at the whole 3,200 mile trip its very overwhelming, but if you break it down day by day, hour by hour, and just really enjoy the scenery and the ride, it can go by pretty fast," says participant Jim Andresen. "It's just very important to show people to get off the couch and move forward. Realize that disabilities are not what they seem, you can make a difference in your life and in the life of many others," says Daniel Shert, Ride Director. This year the team raised a $250,000.
