BILLINGS - A series of recent vandalisms, believed to be hate related, have surfaced across town. Now, Billings community leaders are finding themselves again saying, "Not in our town".
The hate graffiti and acts have been picking up speed since April, culminating in the last few weeks. Papa Eddie's grill on Broadwater has been hit several times. Swastikas spray painted on outside walls and a brick was thrown through a window with "scum out" written on it.
The targeted businesses are ethnic run. The Rims were also hit. The anti-hate movement Not In Our Town is taking action. "They're testing us," said Eran Thompson, Not In Our Town. "Bricks through windows with swastikas, swastikas on the backs of buildings, swastikas all over town, they're testing us to see what our response will be. If we decide this is okay and do nothing the next target will be people."
Eddie Laster, owner of Papa Eddie's, said the hate crimes against his business are hurtful and disappointing. "We love Billings," said Laster. "My kids go to school here, and my son works here now for the summer and for him to see something like that, and I'm just trying to make a living, trying to be of service to the community."
The Not In Our Town group is holding an Eat In at Papa Eddie's Grill on Tuesday, June 24. All are welcome to stop in and have a bite to eat and give support for Billings residents who have been the targets of the recent hate crimes.
Meantime, Billings Police said information is coming in and they are investigating.

This is sad to see in our community good people just trying to make a living and support their families and then this happens!!! these people who are doing this have to understand that it is a hate crime and we will not tolerate it they should be punished to the fullest extent
