Beartooth Highway to Re-Open

By Kathy Weber

BILLINGS - Authorities plan to re-open a section of the Beartooth Highway Saturday after an avalanche shut it down earlier this week. The section of U.S. 212 linking Red Lodge with Cooke City, Silver Gate and the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park have been closed since Tuesday evening's avalanche.

Road crews from Yellowstone National Park and the Montana Department of Transportation have once again cleared and repaired the road. Dunraven Pass is also set to open for the season at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 31st.

Travelers should be prepared for quick changes in weather and watch for winter road conditions on these roadways.
