President Vetoes Farm Bill

By Arianne Rapkoch

BILLINGS - The U.S. House has voted to override President Bush's veto of the new Farm Bill. As promised, the president vetoed the $300 billion dollar Farm Bill, calling it a tax increase on regular Americans at a time of high food prices and record farm profits.

Bush says the bill gives away too much money to wealthy farmers at the expense of taxpayers who foot the bill for the subsidies. This was the 10th veto of his presidency. Congressman Denny Rehberg says he voted to override the veto, especially because of the "country of origin" labeling guidelines within the bill.

The Congressman says, "Being one of the lead sponsors of the Country of Origin Labeling requirement within he Farm Bill both in 2001 and now this bill I'm really pleased that that part of it got put into it and I'm really glad that we have the ability to override the veto." The senate is also expected to vote to override the bill sometime Wednesday night.

Denny is behaving like a "Tax and Spend" Democrat (Baucus!). It might be time to think about bringing him haome.
