Motorcycle Driver Charged in Court

By Nick Lough

BILLINGS - A Billings man accused leaving the scene of an accident that killed his girlfriend appeared in Justice Court Wednesday afternoon.

Thirty-three year old Christopher Steglich appeared in court with a broken leg from the motorcycle crash. He's now officially charged with felony failure to remain at the scene of an accident involving a death.

Court officials say on Monday morning Steglich crashed his motorcycle with his girlfriend on the back on the corner of Sugar Avenue and Garden Avenue. Investigators say Steglich then left the scene while his girlfriend lay in the ditch. Court documents say Steglich had been drinking and had taken hits from a meth pipe before the crash. His bond was set at $75,000 dollars. He is scheduled to appear in court again on May 23rd.

Court documents show this is the second time Seglich has been charged for leaving the scene. In addition, he has four DUI's on his record. He's also been charged seven times for driving on a suspended or revoked license, and seven times for no insurance.

maybe the mother should of been home with her precious 3 children instead her 'winner' of a boyfriend. she didn't deserve to left for dead but she odviously had flaws of her own and i bet toxicology reports prove that she was on drugs and alcohol as well! the only victims here are her children!Maybe they will grow up with better role models now!
