Bike to Work

By Nick Lough

BILLINGS - You may have noticed what seemed to be a lot of people racing on bikes, on foot, and in cars through the downtown area during lunch Wednesday. It was for Northern Pains Resource Council's Sneakers, Spokes, and Spark Plugs Challenge.

Thirteen teams raced their way to six different locations to see who would finish first. Teams are made up of a bike rider, walker, and driver. Officials say finding alternative ways of transportation is key to fueling our future.

"Everyday it costs more and more. fuel is going up so we've go to learn to be more conservative and try saving a little bit. If we can do it now it will pay for itself in the future.," said Billings City Council member Jim Ronquillo.

The event was held in conjunction with national bike to work week and the local bike, walk, bus week celebration in Billings.
