Sutton's Layoffs

By Sarah Gravlee & Catherine Ross

BILLINGS - A Billings business lays off nearly 25% of its workforce Monday. Sutton's Sportswear laid off less than 50 people Monday afternoon.

CEO Harvey Stewart says the layoffs are necessary in these tough economic times. The Billings-based company creates and designs clothing for mostly resort-based businesses.

Stewart says they were not happy to lay off so many people, but added that it was the best way to keep the company going.

We should look at the track record of Harvey Stewart. I've heard he will come into a healthy business and before you know it you have layoffs and then the company shuts down due to lack of funds to run the company, or maybe it's poor management!!!

"Less than 50 people"? Doesn't the writer mean "FEWER" than 50 people? Either way, it's sad.
