A study conducted by the AAA travel agency says the average cost for two people traveling together is $244 dollars per night. The agency says if you are looking for the best deals, you should travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma where you can expect to pay an average $179 per day on lodging and meals.

Albuquerque, New Mexico and Wichita, Kansas cost about the same amount. On the other end, you can expect to pay the most if you travel to Honolulu. Where they estimate travelers spend about $673 dollars per day.

The next most expensive cities are New York City, followed by Miami Beach, Florida. AAA says travelers can maximize their vacation dollars by planning ahead and making their lunch or early bird dinner their main meal.
