Students Career Conference

By Stephanie Domurat

BILLINGS - More than 300 high school students from across Montana skipped classes to come to Billings Wednesday for a new kind of learning.

The 18th Annual Career Development Conference is part of the "Jobs for Montana's Graduates" program, helping students plan for life after high school. Students learn about different career options from guest speakers, competitions, and workshops. One student was even able to conquer her fear of public speaking.

"Speaking to people and stuff, and learning to talk to people, because that's mostly what i need to work on." says West High Senior Katlyn Grayson.

JMG program director Drea Brown says that "With working with someone, you can totally change a persons life, you can help them become whatever it is that they want to be." The Jobs for Montana's Graduate's program is state funded and includes 38 high schools. The plan is to add a dozen more next year.
