Torch Run

By Nichole Szemerei

BILLINGS - The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics that began in April finally makes its way to Billings.

Early Tuesday morning runners gathered to begin their trek with the Flame of Hope. They made their way over the interstate on South Billings Boulevard and ended in Big Timber.

Billings Police leg leader Matthew Brewer says this event is more than just a run. "You look at this crowd here and it's everybody getting together for a great cause. It's giving back. It's a feeling that I really enjoy, it's almost addictive."

Since the Montana torch run began in 1985, it has raised over $125 million for Special Olympics.
