Honor Guard

By KULR Staff

MONTANA - No one knows the numbers of those who’ve died better than members of the Honor Guard.

These are the men and women who attend the funerals of soldiers killed in combat. As the number of military funerals has increased over the past few years, so has the participation of active and reserve soldiers in the honor guard. These volunteer soldiers say they feel a sense of appreciation.

Denny Lenoir, Honor Guard Coordinator says, "Most of the members of the Honor Guard team today have been on deployments in the recent years. And they know what the cost of freedom is and they appreciate seeing that in our older generations. And they want to pay tribute to them."

Montana's Honor Guard honored the lives, and deaths, of 294 members of the military last year. Their goal is to make sure that every veteran gets the proper honors they're entitled to.
